we were sitting in his room

Van der Schoot composed a 3,5 minute long colloage based on a fragment from “Der Leiermann” - a performance by Dick Raaijmakers in which he is hopelessly trying to manually play back a cut and spliced tape with the song by Franz Schubert at the correct speed - to perform her own version of  Alvin Lucier’s piece “i am sititing in a room” in the Arnold Schönbergzaal at the old conservatory building.  Just a few weeks earlier Alvin Lucier had passed away. Van der Schoot created a caleidoscopic good bye ritual, sending off three iconic male composers, while honoring the location and her memories of the place.
